hmm, dunno. could imail be pipelining commands too fast for ME?  Does Imail 
SMTP do pipelining?

ah, no.  most SMTP servers wait several 100 seconds between commmands 
before timing out SMTP dialog.

no, ME said "502" (fatal) to his EHLO, so he said HELO.

Everything Imail does is correct.  It's ME that is screwing up, 70% of the 
time.
