one more thing when I look at the queue I notice that the mess. that seem to
be getting hung are the ones sent by my boss to multiple recipients, (if any
one is the spammers it is him, with his 2billion a day jokes) needless to
say he is on my filter list *lol*

Unfortunately, it likely will not solve the problem.  If there are lots of
the SMTP32.EXE processes in memory, and they are not going away (even after
many minutes/hours), then they are likely stuck.  Not too many people
experience this, but the times that they do, it is usually due to a bogus
or corrupt message of some sort in the spool.

First, though, I would check to see if there is a valid reason for all
those SMTP32.EXE processes.  Is a lot of mail being sent or received?  Is
it possible that a spammer is sending mail through your server?
