Hmmm... So is Imail running it's flagship virus protection version or
not?

Though  I  share  some  of  your  suspicions  of  a plain old IMAILSRV
malfunction,  but I've *never* seen anything this crazy happen with an
Imail-hosted  list.  I'm inclined to believe the root problem is on an
infected or otherwise malfunctioning client, probably within Ipswitch.

At  the  same  time, IMAILSRV's lack of onboard double opt-in would be
the  underlying  vulnerability  being  exploited,  so  here may be its
clarion call...
