Declude JunkMail does of course use some CPU time, but the CPU usage is
typically quite low (allowing 100,000's of E-mails/day to be
scanned). Declude JunkMail doesn't do much in the way of string
manipulation (or regex type expressions) that eat a lot of CPU time. And,
Declude was designed to run as quickly as possible in most cases.
Although a few of our Declude Virus customers have enough mail volume that
performance starts to become an issue, I believe only one of our customers
has ever reported a performance issue with Declude JunkMail under heavy
volume. So even in the most complex installations, the performance of
Declude JunkMail should rarely be an issue. Typically, if a server doesn't
have high CPU usage, you won't notice high CPU usage when adding Declude
JunkMail.
In this case, it looks like 1,000's of E-mails were being processed at the
same time. In that case, high CPU usage will occur even without Declude
running.
