Hello,

I am having the same problem here. I called Ipswitch on it and they
(Ipswitch) said that this is a bug in Outlook and they were not going to
look at it further.

I have a problem with this response for the following reasons:

1. The last mail server software(SLMail) I used never did this. Don't get
wrong, SLMail had more then enough issues...
2. I searched Microsoft's TechNet site and didn't find one related issue on
receiving duplicate e-mails with Outlook clients using POP3 accounts.
3. I requested that Ipswitch send me the data that proves this is a
Microsoft Outlook issue. I didn't get a response back.
4. Vendors should work together, not point fingers at one another. (OK, I am
dreaming)

OK, enough of the soap box...

I have found that my users get duplicates after they are out of the office
for a couple of days. I feel it has something to do with the number of
messages on the server. Usually, this happens when the mailbox has over 200
messages.

For those of you that are curious here is my network configuration:

IMail server:
Version 7.12 (upgraded last night, got duplicats this morning )
Dell 2550 Dual 1.4 Ghz with 1Gig Ram, Raid 5 (4 36gig drives).
Right now I am only using the onboard 10/100 Nic. (trying to isolate the
problem)

Network:
Extreme Networks Alpine 3808 (224 10/100 ports and 4 Gig ports).
No network problems here <grin>

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Also, if I ruffled any
feathers, please respond to me directly.

Thanks,

Tom Lytle

We have seen this problem when users tell Outlook to leave copies of the
messages on the server (Properties / Advanced). When they get to a
certain number of messages on the server, Outlook appears to lose the
ability to keep track of what it has downloaded, and downloads messages
repeatedly.

To fix that problem: Uncheck "leave messages on server", down load
everything which wipes it off the server, re-check "leave messages on
server", cleanup the mess in Outlook's inbox.

Don't know if this is your user's problem or not . . .
