Problem is you can't prevent the user from doing a dummy. If you set
their email to update on opening outlook, then the user hits the refresh
key - it starts 2 threads to retrieve the mail and they stomp on each
other. If the users would just leave it alone it would be fine
but...... They typically do this when they start it up, and
immediately don't see mail (because the software is downloading a large
message - a zip file or image say).

You want multi-threading because that way you can be retrieving from
more than one account at a time. I'm not sure how you'd prevent the
threads from stomping on each other this way though if the user pulls a
doozy.

Dan,

This sounds like the same problem.

Has anyone sent this off to Microsoft to look at?

As strange as it sounds, I have seen Microsoft fix problems in the
past.<grin>

Sounds an awful lot like the old Outlook checking the mail before it's
finished downloading and removing from the previous timed check.

In short, when using pop3 all mail is downloaded and then all mail is
removed from the server. Outlook starts downloading and doesn't finish
before the next time to check occurs. It starts downloading again. The
mail hasn't been deleted from the server so you get a second copy......
