Well, here's the rest of the story..I've got DNS and Imail with Declude running on one box.I bought a new box, installed just Imail and Declude, then moved users fromone box to the other. It was working fine. Came in a few days later anddiscovered a bunch of errors and a couple of services running that I hadn'tinstalled.Long story short, the new box had been hacked into and they were runningFiredaemon and ServU FTP. Yes, I've done my research and I know what thatall means, and I have cleaned up the box, and moved everyone back to theoriginal Mail server. So, now I have the new box sitting there, wondering if I should moveeveryone back to it, or if I should put Win2000 on it, then move everyoneback.By the sounds of things, since I'm so familiar with NT, I should justcleanup what is there, make sure the box is secure, then move everyone backto; and continue to do things the way I have been as I haven't had *any*problems with NT4, sp6a, Imail 6.06 and Declude...I strongly agree there :-) If you are like myself, I have run NT4 for over 4 years now, and IMail 6.06 for about a
1-1/2 yrs, And have not had any problems (Except for the issues with moving from a Dialup to Cable Modem, What a mess)
I as well run the SP6a, and she is just as tight as she can be, I run Tiny Personal Firewall on my server, And so far,
No issues what so ever, I allow and disallow thru-out the day,
IMail was basically made for NT 4, and there for on the version back then are going to run better, But I have seen where
some people have been able to get it to work very well on the Win2k server, And I solute them, As the way it
looks, one day we will have to go out and get the Win2k Server and bring it into our network here. If it is anything like
Win2k Pro. Then I will not foresee any issue's, Except that I will not get it until it atleast gets to SP5 or above, Just to make sure
that it does not have any other major issues, As I did not get NT 4 until the SP6a came out, by 2 months.

Win2k still has allot of issues that need to be resolved, And will be soon in the future, As like NT 4, it was basically the
same way as the Win2k server, And now it is possibly the strongest Server on the Microsoft frontier. So maybe after a while
Win2k server will be too.

For example: Here is what [ Roger Heath ] wrote:

We had similar experiences recently. We started moving toW2KServer only to find it broke the ActiveState ISAPI Perl inIIS. We replaced W2KServer with NT4 and have no problems. We usePerl a lot in our sites. Active State has a solution, which is torun the Perl.Exe which operates without multithreading and atabout 100 times slower speed. Really disgusting when you havealready invested in W2KServer... We also are observing Javadevelopers who just upgraded to W2KSP3 having problems with theSDK when SP2 people don't.. NT4 was never a problem at all, gofigure.-------------------
Yes there are allot of things that the Win2k server is not going to be able to do right now.
But in time it will, BUT there is also allot of new things out that Win NT 4 cannot run, As I
know very well, Certain .asp scripts, cause the server to loose it's .asp extensions until a re-boot.
This has been found out on both the WinNT's that we have in Network, And out old ISP NT systems
as well. But with the new [ .net ] patch that you can download from Windows Updates, It has helped out
allot with allot of the issues with this new .asp code and drivers that are out there.

Anyway, I have taken up to much time already as it is, And as you can see for those that
do run the Win2k Server, I have not knocked the server in here, I have just pointed out some
of it's faults, Like I said, I will most likely end up with one anyway one day.
And as for Win NT 4, Rock on, We love you :-)

And this message contains the [ OT ] so smile be happy.
