Anyway, I'm in the process of cracking open our SMTP logs from earlier this week... approx 30-50 meg a day - so bear with me! I'll try to make some 'before' and 'after' comparisons and I'll post the results to the list. Hopefully this will help some of the other IMail Admins who are having problems sending to certain domains.
what's weird is

12:01 01:15 SMTP-(00000168) Trying msn.com (0)
12:01 01:15 SMTP-(00000168) Connect msn.com [207.46.181.13:25] (1)
12:01 01:15 SMTP-(00000168)
12:01 01:15 SMTP-(00000168) SMTP_DELIV_FAILED
12:01 01:15 SMTP-(00000168) >QUIT

one doesn't even see the MSN banner:

# telnet 207.46.181.13 25
Trying 207.46.181.13...
Connected to smtp-gw-4.msn.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 cpimssmtpa69.msn.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 5.0.2195.5600 ready at Thu, 5 Dec 2002 17:35:20 -0800

and Imail only logs to the minute, not to the second or msec, so we can't see how long the connect/disconnect is.

I wonder if turning IMail SMTP debugging would have shown a little bit more?
