I  understand  your  views regarding the 'Relay for...' options. Heck,
we're  all  stubborn about our systems and prefer to live with certain
risks.

But  you  seem  to  have missed the ultimate point as pertains to your
original  post.  To do store-and-forward, IMail needs to bypass normal
MX  lookups  to  avoid routing loops. To bypass normal MX lookups, you
need  to  have  MXs  listed  in  your  HOSTS.  To  have the HOSTS file
consulted,  you  need  to  be  using  'Relay for Addresses.' It's that
simple:  leave your relay settings as-is if you must. But forget about
store-and-forward, which was your original project.

P.S.  I  can't  help mentioning that Hijack is probably not protecting
your web messaging clients, unless you have specifically configured it
to do so.
