AH. The reason behind the reason. Thank you Sandy for clearing that last
part up. 

I was under the impression that when receiving e-mail via SMTP, Imail would
check the domain to see if it is hosted, then check the HOSTS file, then
check the IP address.

You are saying it checks the domain to see if it is hosted, then the IP
address. The HOSTS file is used only for delivery in the normal resolution
order (WINS, CACHE, BROADCAST, LMHOSTS, HOSTS, DNS [I think]) after Imail
has excepted the message.
