No -- they handle it *differently*.
For example, if the RFCs say "Send the E-mail user's name", should the mail client send "Joe" or "Joe User"? Just because one mail client uses "Joe" doesn't mean that is right and the mail client sending "Joe User" is wrong.
I do agree that it would be best for IMail to treat the TCP RST as an error condition, but Ipswitch may feel strongly that it should be treated as a temporary condition. In fact, if the mailserver is set up properly, it *is* a temporary condition (such as a reboot, or possibly a crash).
