Scott,

It looks as though there is a DNS problem on your end. In IMail Administrator, on the
SMTP service
there is a box for 'Domain Name Server address'. IMail sends DNS requests to that
server for the
remote email servers it needs to connect to in order to deliver mail. In this case,
either that DNS
server didn't respond with an MX record for the 'lewismunday.com' domain when IMail
asked for one
(either because of a problem on the DNS server or a network issue which dropped the
data) or it
responded that there was no MX record for the domain. Therefore, IMail connected to
the A record
for the domain which in this case isn't setup to accept mail for the domain (nor is it
required to
since it is not listed as a valid MX for the domain). Your DNS server should respond
with the
following information when asked for an MX record for the 'lewismunday.com' domain.

lewismunday.com.
    5, mail.lewismunday.com. IN A 209.219.70.10
    10, mail.izzy.net. IN A 207.158.132.178

Thank you,
Christian

I am having an intermittent problem with email bouncing supposedly because the user is
unknown. The
problem is I know the address is correct. Here is the bounce message and header.

Unknown user: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I see that this time there is a message in the mail log that says it can't relay for
that user. I am
correct in assuming that they have multiple mail servers and the problem is on their
end?

Can anyone reccomend a good book on SMTP. It might help to be able to understand what
all of this
stuff means. :)

thanks for the help.
