Scott,

That particular SMTP server is not set up to accept, or relay mail for that domain (lewismunday.com).  However, that server is NOT one of the servers set up to in the DNS for lewismunday.com as an MX, but rather just their A record.  It's normal to try the A record to deliver mail, but only after the MX records fail to accept the mail, or if no MX records exist.  This leads me to the question, do you see IMail trying to deliver this email to mail.lewismunday.net (209.219.70.10) and mail.izzy.net (207.158.132.178) before it finally tries lewismunday.net (64.226.100.46)?  If not, then something is wrong on your end doing the lookups for the domain lewismunday.net.  If it is, and fails both of those connections, then tries lewismunday.net, then your side is working properly, and the problem is most likely on their end.

Chris

Subject: [IMail Forum] Unknown User problem probably not iMail's problem

I am having an intermittent problem with email bouncing supposedly because the user is unknown. The problem is I know the address is correct. Here is the bounce message and header.

I see that this time there is a message in the mail log that says it can't relay for that user. I am correct in assuming that they have multiple mail servers and the problem is on their end?

Can anyone reccomend a good book on SMTP. It might help to be able to understand what all of this stuff means. :)

thanks for the help.
