When the SMTPD is not listening by stopping and starting the process the server immediatly begins listening on that port.
Okay to demonstrate my stupidity how can I concentrate on the disk i/o..I mahve moved the entire contents of the spool and start things and there is no problem for a few hours possibly days, then the problem occurs again. What types of 16 bit processes should I be looking for, I have no other processes running on the server other than the basic processes that win 2k needs to function. Per scott's email what can I do other than move some of my virtual domains to a different server to help stop the over load of the smtp service? Any suggestions to look for would be appreciated as this problem seems to come and go every few days, there is no time table, no particular connection going etc..when this occurs..
