Thanks for the tip, Tripp.  This would make sense as the answer.  I don't
understand why they do it this way, though.  Your main concern with the size
of mailboxes is space taken up on the drive.  If they choose to stop
measuring the size of a mailbox file at its delimiters, that doesn't mean
the file is any smaller!

Altogether, the difference is small, but I don't see why they did it.

The MBX format includes a delimiter line that is not actually part of the
message.  The reported size does not include this delimiter as part of the
mailbox size.
