also want to try using a RAM drive for the spool. Others have had
great success using this design in high volume apps when web messaging has
issues. Search the archives for best practices.
Also,
you can use perf mon to isolate whether this is related to a disk IO
issue. Measure things like disk queue length and see if they are far off
of baseline conditions.
Additionally, have you done the performance tuning for the TCP stack
(in the registry) that is normally recommended for high volume 2000
apps?

You are not using Windows 2003, correct (IMail had some problems with slow
access to registry entries, but 8.05 fixes that)?
We heard from one IMail user that was having some similar problems, and
switching to using registered RAM seemed to have fixed it. It's a long
shot, but might be worth a try.
