Then why does his bounce snippet (which he included further down in this message) say:
--------------------------------------------------------------------- Bounce contents: Delivery failed 240 attempts: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Original message follows. Date: Sun, 22 Feb 2004 06:05:53 -0500 This bounce was received at: Date: Sun, 22 Feb 2004 14:56:48 -0500 -------------------------------------------------------------------- >From the bounce message he's getting it is making 240 retries in about 8 hours. Thats about 1 retry every 2 minutes. Since the minimum is supposed be 10 minute intervals he should get at least 40 hours for 240 retries. In the docs no limit is mentioned for the NUMBER of RETRIES, only on the time before retrying: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tries before returning to sender. Defines the number of times that delivery is attempted before giving up and returning the mail to the sender. Each time the Retry Timer (on the Queue Manager tab) reaches 0, a delivery attempt is made. Thus, if the Retry Timer is set to 30 (minutes) and you want to attempt delivery for up to 3 days, this field should contain 144. The default value is 20. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, if something is kicking the queue every 2 minutes you could set your number of retries REALLY high while you try to figure out what the REAL problem is (720 retries = 24 hours -- so 2160 to get 3 days) Gerald On Mon, 23 Feb 2004 17:36:00 -0800 John Tolmachoff \(Lists\) said something about RE: [IMail Forum] Problems with SMTP retry settings: > No you don't.
