It's not applicable at all, because the picket line is a protest that allows strike-breakers to cross the picket lines. A DDoS welds shut the factory gates. 100% DENIAL of service.

You need to READ both what he was responding to (my comments) as well as the original material on the Lycos site. I do not understand how you are making the leap in logic that what Lycos is doing will stop those morons that want to follow the link to the spammers site or how they are shutting "the factory gates" with a "100% DENIAL" when Lycos expressly says they are NOT - repeat NOT doing what you are ASS-U-MEing.

Lycos is NOT launching 100% DDoS attacks, Lycos is NOT shutting the factory gates, Lycos is NOT stopping traffic from reaching the sites. They ARE putting bodies in the street in front of the door to slow down traffic. They ARE monitoring the amount of traffic they are directing to it and raising and lowering the traffic being directed to it to fill (I'll ASS-U-ME now) say 90% of the spammers bandwidth. That allows their garbage site to continue to work but both decreases the bandwidth available, maybe the moron trying to go to the site will stop the access when the website is slow to respond, as well as raise the cost of the bandwitch for the spammer if he is paying bandwitdth useage fees. Plus the person providing the bandwith will see their own traffic climb on their routers causing them to either kill the spammers connection or get the spammer to stop. The same way that a landlord in a strip mall might go to the tenant in the complex that is getting picketed to try and get them to address the picketers complaints since it fills up his parking lot and impacts the neighboring businesses too.
