Again, talking strictly about Lycos, we're not really talking about a DDoS... but it's easier to refer to it that way.
It *is* a DDoS ("Distributed Denial of Service") attack. They are specifically designing software that will use many computers ("Distributed"), with the goal of shutting/slowing down the spammer's websites ("Denial of Service").
It's like receiving junk mail and calling the 800# that is listed. Doing so once to complain can be justified. Calling them 100 times a day cannot be justified (other than you trying to cost them money).
