Have you looked at Mailsite from Rockliffe? It's a supported, commercial version of IMS.  I wonder if it supports the fully qualified e-mail address.

I'm starting to sound like a Rockliffe employee... I'm not, but I just think supported software is better, especially if you are already going through pain of changing you might as well change to something with a future like LDAP and IMAP4 support.

Subject: RE: IMS POP3 Help [Focus Mail Status - Clean]

Hi Walt

That's exactly what I am wanting to do.  I want the users to be able to use their fully qualified e-mail address as their username when they login to the POP3 Server Service

We have been using a Exchange Server for the past 2 years and the only parts we are using are SMTP & POP3 all the other million parts to exchange are just sitting unused so we are going to bin exchange for another piece of software that will do nice clean simple POP3 and SMTP e-mail.

I can't see the point in spending thousands of pounds on exchange when something as clean and simple as IMS will do exactly what I want from the e-mail server

Kind Regards

Bryn,

I'm no Windows server expert, but I tried changing the settings on my Windows 2000 user record and it let me do the POP3 login using a fully qualified email address.

If this is on the track you're trying to use, let me know.

Thanks,

Can anyone help me with this one.  All I want to know is if anyone has successfully logged into their e-mail account using the full e-mail address.

If it can't be done that's fine I just want to know if its the software that does not support it or if I have some of the config set incorrectly.

Kind Regards

Hi Thanks for the reply

The reason is for the past 2 years we have been running Exchange 2000 and all the customers are familiar with logging in with their e-mail addresses. Also we are expanding our e-mail system so it will host lots of different domains and we already have 6 e-mail addresses starting with "[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I need to make the change as simple and smooth as possible for everyone using the system so I don't want to have to change the way they login to collect their mail.

Kind Regards

Why do you want to log in with the full email address?

Subject: IMS POP3 Help

Is it possible to use the full e-mail address when logging in to the POP3 service to receive e-mail

I can login no problems with a pre windows 2000 user name such as "bryn" but when I try and login using a full e-mail address such as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" the pop3 service returns the following error message

-ERR [EMAIL PROTECTED] login failed (1326) at point 3 in pass

The password is defiantly correct beccause I can login no problem using the pre 2000 user name.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
