for Hindi particularly, we can add reference from books like NCERT in Hindi for
country names and some extent language names as well. We can at least consider
standard.

Ideally need an already vetted list, above are as good as ours. CLDR
itself needs vetting.
One idea to do say for Hindi - have a small sprint get few Hindi
students, translators etc and get it done another offcourse put online
through pootle/wiki
