As Sayamindu pointed, iso-codes is now used outside Debian as well.

Side advantage: one of its maintainers is subscribed to the indlinux
list..:-)

The Debian Installer (D-I) statistics pointed by Kartik are only the
statistics for translation of the ISO-3166 list (the only list we use
in D-I). Statistics for other lists (639, 639-3, 3166-2, 4217, 15924)
are much lower.

Contributions to iso-codes translations are managed in the Translation
Project, except for a few languages (including the aforementioned)
where translations are done directly in the git repository of
iso-codes.

Anyway, I of course confirm that iso-codes should be the place to
work, but I'm slightly biased...:-)
