Many thanks for your interesting explanations. It was only thanks to your
"peep-show" that I finally found the French word for it (well, I told
Lantra it was now a peep-show box and suddenly they all knew what it was,
whereas no one knew what a perspective box was!), and it's cabinet
d'optique (or sometimes boite d'optique).
