I certainly have come across my share of young people who not only don't listen to radio, but they don't even understand what it is. When I mention I'm a radio producer and make a weekly program I only see a glimmer of understanding in their eyes when I say: "It's sort of like a podcast."
That said there's a burgeoning corps of young people interested in storming the gates of public radio...or public media as they call it. I've recently been holding some intro to recording and production workshops. They've sold out right away my students are almost all under 30...and almost all lovely young women!
