----------------------------------------------------------- From: PsychoticMongoose1 Message 30 in Discussion Their distance might be crap, and their technique may look dangerous but the fact is that beginners don't generate the speed and forces necessary to puncture a jacket, even with a broken blade. Don't REALLY agree with that.... <remembering a certain former UCD beginner who hit quite hard repeatedly until opponent was dead on the piste- Eoin fenced him, and he's Owen's favorite beginner of all time> An old, weakened blade is gonna break in the hands of a beginner, just as easily as a more experienced fencer. Hell, 2 wks ago Dan thought he was fencing a wild boar in training and tried to skewer it, thankfully the broken top 8 inches of the blade only went through my lame and slightly into my jacket.... My shoulder was NOT amused, particularly when followed by the comment.. " you broke my foil..." ?!?!?!? ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/IrishFencingForum/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
