 so you'd allow , Paul, tracksuit trousers for foil and sabre?   Like I said 
for low level comps that's what I'd be happy with. For most senior comps 
however I believe breeches should be mandatory. Personally I wouldn't 
distinguish between foil and sabre. The reduced target area is offset IMHO by 
the extra stiffness of the sabre blade.   I have a question for the federation 
commitee. If the IAFF makes breeches obligatory in all Irish fencing 
competions. Which of the following options do they expect us to do for large 
novice competitions such as Schull: a) Not hold it at all. b) Supply all 
novices with 350n breeches, plasteron & jacket c) Hold the competition "outside 
the auspieces" of the IAFF.
