Review Comment:
   `testSchemaEvolutionAddColumn` adds plain optional columns, read back as 
`null`, this one checks columns with defaults get the default injected and that 
a present value isn't overwritten. There's some overlap with the new 
`testPrimitiveDefaultValues` too. @pvary @Guosmilesmile, should I remove 
`testDefaultValues` and `testNullDefaultValue` which overlaps similarly, if you 
think they're covered, or keep them. What do you think?
