No problem about the English, thanks for the alert about ther, I'd imagine he
has some driving reason for his presence here or he wouldn't waste his time.

OO or LO without Outline View does make it an inferior product. I have Office
365 and Office 2016 both, but I love OO and use it for 90+% of my routine
writing, like reviews etc. Scrivener is a godsend that is only getting better.
If you're a writer and from France you may like oStorybook. Runs on Java and
is tricky to install but as good as 95% of the professional "creative writer"
software. I did find Organan extension for OO. Looks like it wants to be a
Scrivener clone and feels buggy but that is a kind of Outline view work around
if folks want to try it. I think I found both on alternativeto.net.
(Sourceforge)

Back to the real outline view request, I see it is more than a decade old. I
know from my programming days that if I wanted to solve a problem with a
program I went total OCD and it was fixed in a short period of time. I think
that is how Organan extension came to be. I don't expect open source
programmers to take my feature request as anything but what it is, a feature
request, but I am rather certain the alternative programs to MS Office do want
me (us) using their software. Not sure the motivation there but it is obvious
they want us using this open source software considering the constant hard work
on these projects.

For those just at their wits end with this feature request, there are more and
more creative online solutions for writing projects. Gingkoapp looks real
interesting. Freemind and Mindmup are mindmap programs that can do a lot that
resembles the need for outlining and writing. Inspiration Pro, is
Mindmup/Freemind on $teroids, but specifically with outlining, still not quite
as good as MS Word on that account.

Also free (and premium upgrades on some) but perhaps not what folks are looking
for, allmynotes, cherrytree, zim, theguide, treepad, to mention a few. They
aren't Word substitutes or even OO, LO subs but if you're a creative writer and
need to be able to do such things as outlining provides, all these are valuable
as well as yWriter. Even Notepad ++ has so many add on features I suspect it
could be the solution period.

Anyway, if any of these suggestions prove helpful to you it would be nice to
hear what is working for you. Not much sense begging OO for another 13 years
for a feature they either can't or won't provide. Good luck out there.
