Hello Jerold, great post ! Thank you much for all these very usefull hints and
links. I used oStoryBook a bit, but it is still very buggy. But promising ! I
also used (but returned to Scrivener, I must confess) Bibisco and Quoll Writer,
both free and quite nice, but both still unfinished. I also found Calligra
Author, from former KDE, that is very promising - but still at early stage of
dev. Another one is yWriter, very nice but too "strict" for me to work with.
For OOo Writer and the feared Outline Mode, I do not think that much of us are
still waiting for it.
But, hey, it is so easy for me to start my 15 years old (legit) Word 2000, it
works so fast and flawlesly on Win10x64 (just do not install in standard
location and use compatibility settings). Not half as good as Writer for
pagesetting or correction, but it has outline mode and I can still cut/past
when needed. Or I use Noteliner, a very nice outline only application to
preprare my works.
I didi not know about all the web apps, I'm looking for it just now, surely I
will find something usefull :)
Thank you much for all your suggestions, there is clearly all we can need for
writing easily, with all this free softwares. And, who knows, some day it may
even make its way to Writer ;)
