I would prefer that nobody get in the habit of using snapshots unless they know
exactly why daily does not work for what they are trying to do. Too often I
see third parties referring to snapshot/latest is their reference for a new
development project. For example JLR is negotiating a 250K Euro contract with
Ixonos now and they referred to snapshots/.../20130711.x as the reference for
their work for the next 2-3 months.
We also have the example of ISG/PED who is still using a
snapshot/.../20120924.x image as the base for all of their Baytrail development
and validation.

Let's move folks away from this behavior

Regards
Joel

Subject: Re: Tizen IVI repositories enabled by default in the image

This is a perfect time to re-ask the question that Geoffroy asked the other
day...

Should we change the default repo to be daily instead of snapshots? If QA is
testing daily images against snapshot repos because that is the default, that's
a good argument for changing the default to daily.

The question then becomes: how do our customers use the daily images? I am
willing to bet they really don't want the bleeding (possibly broken) edge.
In fact, the official stance is that, in general, we don't really want anyone
other than developers using snapshots. The are there for engineering and
development use and convenience. Customers and others use them at their own
risk.

Based on that assumptionÅ assuming it is validÅ I think we should default to
daily instead.

Anyone think differently? Thoughts?
