I've seen this reported against ATrpms' packages which use (build) the
embedded X driver in the tarball.

So is the X driver in 100zz missing that symbol (what about 0.2.x and
0.3.x)? Do you have a patch to fix that? :) :) :)

Or should I not use the X driver sources from the ivtv tarball at all,
but something else? Is the (latest) X driver dependent on the ivtv
driver version?
