What ivtvctl options do you suggest? I did try going through each of the
inputs via ivtvctl -p# where # is 0-7
only -p0 and -p1 got me video, but BOTH in b&w. The best audio came
from -p1
Both 0 and 1 are svideo and should work equally as well, when working
(for what it's worth).
Right, but the problem is no color...
Does the 0.2.0 package come with cx25840ctl? Just for fun you might
try to save this to a file:

Ok. I tried that. Still no change on the color.
Nothing interesting in dmesg after running cx25840ctl:

Sound is a bit harder I'm afraid. There have been a lot of changes to the
audio core for the cx25840 since 0.2.0. It would be easier if you
upgraded to the latest 0.3, and post the dmesg (with no module parameters
for anything).
Ok. I'm not too concerned about sound for now, first I want to get colors!

So I've gone up to 0.3.6w. I loaded:
modprobe tveeprom
modprobe cx25840
cx25840ctl -s < cx25840.in
modprobe ivtv
And AWESOME, now I have color... !! But of course, no sound... that's the
next step I guess.
