I think you can make it work by giving some options to tda9887. I have the
line:

option tda9887 port1=0 port2=0 pal=G

Don't forget to try "port2=0 pal=..." alone (i.e. don't set port1). This
sets the Automatic Gain Control output only, not the input.

The only thing I know about the tda9887 module is what Bryan wrote, and I can't find anything about the AGC. Maybe someone could extend A3...

I had to try a few times including some reboots to make it work. It is
not enough to reload the tda9887 module.

It should be... I slightly disapprove of advice to reboot/cold boot, as
that encourages non-deterministic debugging (the worst kind :))

That would be really nice, but I got the impression from tufkal's message that he just wanted to get the damn thing to work... ;)

Is the goal to get all cards to work perfectly with "modprobe ivtv" or is it impossible to avoid parameters with so many different combinations of cards and pal/secam/ntsc standards?

Regards
Christian
