Hello List,

I am confused. I got my WinTV-PVR-250 and it works great in Windows,
however, Windows is not my preferred desktop.

So, I went on a quest to install it under my Linux distro, Arch. Well, getting
the ivtv driver and firmware was not all that hard to do following the
instructions on the Wiki.

Now that I have the drivers all setup I can do an mplayer /dev/video0
and change channels with ivtv-tune, however, I am not able to get any of the
common TV viewing apps to work; like tvtime, kdetv, xawtv or anything. They
all complain about the output of /dev/video0 or other issues.

KdeTV says:
kdetv: WARNING: ... failed. kdetv likely does not to work with your device
and/or your current filter config.
Terminated

Tvtime says:
ivtv:invalid argument

Xawtv gives me:
X Error of failed request: XF86DGANoDirectVideoMode
Major opcode of failed request: 138 (XFree86-DGA)
Minor opcode of failed request: 1 (XF86DGAGetVideoLL)
Serial number of failed request: 67
Current serial number in output stream: 67

I am using Xorg 7.0 and not Xfree86. Also, I am using the nVidia driver and
now DRI. This may be a problem with Xawtv and I will query their web site.

I got MythTV to work, but I can't change any channels and, quite frankly, I
like to watch TV in a window so I can do other work.

All I would like to do is watch TV at my desktop without having to issue a
ton of CLI commands to change channels.

Has anyone had any success with tvtime or kdetv that would care to share how
they got their WinTV-PVR-250 to work?

For referance, I am using the latest ivtv drivers (0.4.1) and the 2.6.14 CK
kernel. I have the 2.6.15 CK kernel and the drivers still work, but with the
same results

I appreciate any assistance and I am not afraid to test new things.

Thanks!!!

Joe
