Michael,

Thank you for responding.

I have put the firmware files in the following directories:
/lib/firmware/2.6.15-22-686/v4l-cx2341x-dec.fw
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx2341x-dec.fw
/lib/firmware/2.6.15-22-686/v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
/usr/local/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
/lib/firmware/2.6.15-22-686/v4l-cx25840.fw
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx25840.fw

I then re-ran the following:
depmod
modprobe ivtv
dmesg

There doesn't seem to be any change except that the IVTV section does
not show up near the end of the dmesg output as it is suggested it
should, so I don't know if the situation has worsened.

Also, when turning on Tvtime, it says:
No signal
No such file or directory
Cannot open capture device /dev/video0

Although the Tvtime errors are probably to be expected since the dmesg
output has not yet been successful.

Do I have the right firmware files in the right place, and am I loading
them correctly?
