After seeing that output, I'm inclined to believe that I am missing the
codec required to read the stream produced by the tuner card. Can
anyone help me figure out what codec I would need? I have just about
every common codec package installed, I can view DVDs, and any other
video format I have.
Doesn't look like you are missing a codec. Here's the output from my
mplayer session. Looks pretty similar to yours, except I'm using mp3lib
instead of madlib. But that's sound stuff, and shouldn't affect picture
settings.

I would say that perhaps you have either a bad card or a bad signal.
Perhaps you could try the card in MS Windows, and see if it works any
better there?
