The new tutorial looks good.

The price table of PICs highlights that newer more featured parts are
cheaper.

BUT

I'd mention the 16F877 and older are TOTALLY obsolete. Emphasis in
text what you have in price table.  Check the current Microchip
recommendations.  16F887 is the suggested 16F877 replacement (asm),
but for JAL source, there is no reason why not use cheaper 18F4550
with x3 more RAM, OK you lose the RCx pin for V-USB, but the MCLR pin
can be used as RE3.  The 18F1220 or 18F2550 seem to be better options
than the 16F628 at similar price.

Is the PIC18F1220 not a better choice now than 16F88? (both 18pin) Or
PIC18F14K22 at 20 pins

Anyone that already has a box of PICs can figure out.  Anyone new to
PIC is the most likely to be relying on the Tutorial, so it should
concentrate on up to date chips?
