Hi Seb, If you use only 4 pins from the XXBEE, then is good to edit the footprint and keep only those pins, alog with other 2-3 as board support (you still have the female socket on the board but with other pins cut) and remove the others,, making room for traces and maybe 1206 size SMDs.
