I am a newbie to this listserv and Java3D. I need some help.
I am working on a project in 3D over the web.
The project involves creating a web enabled application/applet for a
suiting-shirting company. Any user over the internet can go to this web site
and give his body dimensions. According to that data, I have to create a
human 3D model. On the next page, the user can select the pattern of suit,
the texture of cloth, color of cloth etc. In the last screen, I have to map
this texture/color/pattern information on the human 3D model and let the
user have a 3D view of how he would look in that suit.
I know Java1.3 very well (not Java 3D API), and my options include using
VRML, Java 3D, XML, or any other API. However all these are optional and I
am open to using anything for this project. My main problem is - I have a
very short deadline (just about 12 full days) but (thankfully) I just have
to create a prototype (not a full-fledged commercial application) of this,
but I have no idea whatsoever of 3D web technologies or VRML/XML/Java 3D (I
know Java1.3 APIs very well and also HTML very well). Please suggest me what
should I go for (VRML or Java 3D or a combination with 2 or more of them
interfacing with each other.) or any other rapid development tool. Also if
any of you knows the URL to any pages with such info please let me know.
Also if anyone knows of any source from where I can get human 3D models then
please let me know.
The most daunting task for me is to create a human 3D model according to the
body dimensions and mapping the color, texture, cloth, pattern information
on such a model.
