Hi Lee,

There are several things you can try, I assume you
already using v1.2.1 release. Since the whole window
freeze instead of just the Java3d, it is not a deadlock
in the java code. Possible cause are in the native code
which interface with the graphics card.

(1) Try jdk1.3.1 beta
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/earlyAccess/j2sdk131/
This will output a stacktrace in case the native code
    do has illegal access violation.
(2) Try to update the latest driver (in case
     for 3D Blaster see
     http://www.3dblaster.com/drivers/)
instead of generic driver from nvidia.
(3) Check and update the latest graphics card bios,
sometime a new driver required a new bios to install.
We also experiments a hangs in GeForce GTS card when
update the driver. It resolves after update the bios
    of graphics card.
(4) Try emulation mode under D3D (instead of disable
     using DXDIAG) by
     java -Dj3d.d3ddevice=Emulation testprogram
(5) From the window start menu, select "Window Update"
to update the latest patch/compatibility patch
(6) Try to install DirectX 8.0a

A test program will be great for us for investigation.

Thanks.
