Thanks for the reply - I'll check the faq as well.

What you say sounds plausible as I am actually seeing 'missing' lights (Due to
my current global scoping), and this is what I hope to fix by the rescoping.

Hi
~  it's a long times since i read this (think it was on the j3d faq) and
if i
remember rightly you will, java3d does multi pass rendering, so as long
as you
have no more than 8 light sources effecting any 1 surface the lighting
will work
ok, if you have more than 8 lights per surface then you get some lights
missing
from that surface in the render, what more than 8 lights does do, is
increase
the number of render passes for each frame
thats how i remember it anyway, it works for me :)
