That's not true...J3D is still cross platform in the sense that code you
write in Windows will work on Linux...so, you can compile in Windows and
the classes should transfer to Linux. Although the Linux J3D api has
typically
been lagging the Windows version. The actual backbone which interprets
the code is OS dependent (I believe)...so in that respect you are correct.

But the problem is that Blackdown only runs on linux which menas you loose
the
benifit of J3D being cross platform.  Depending on your target audience, but
if you are aiming at the average consumer most of them use Windows (a pity,
yes) so they need to be catered for.
