C# wouldn't exists without Java. C# is an MS response to Java. We'd be 
programming in VB and ASP.

Not so, it is a trade show pushing Oracle's agenda and what a better way to do 
it than to have others do it for you. Sun and Oracle both limit the number of 
sessions that they present at. I can tell you that for the core track, it was a 
PITA to have an imposed quota places on us as we cut some Oracle/Sun talks that 
were much better than the ones submitted by other vendors. Of course that 
picture changes in other tracks.

This is a protest but it's also pushed by what you agree to when you agree to 
speak at JavaONE. Oracle owns your talk and potentially any IP that is 
contained within. Sun was agnostic about this however Oracle has made everyone 
nervous. Hence Google pulls out.
