I have a bad feeling about getting 2.3, though. Every time HTC releases a new phone, I cringe (for the reasons Karsten outlined). A friend of mine very recently bought one via a French or Swiss carrier and is *still* stuck on 2.1. So carriers are definitely to be avoided if possible. A colleague has an HTC Hero and suffered through an excruciatingly long wait to get upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1. It won't get any more updates, so at barely a year old, the phone is obsolete... He won't be buying HTC again. I think not supporting a phone for 2 years is a bad business practice that just creates customer dissatisfaction.
