I figured it out, the problem is it was so obvious that it almost went un-noticed. Normally when I do a who command on the server to obtain the list of members I save the email as plain text and then open the file in word. Sorting at that point has never been an issue. What I did differently this time was select all of the text in the email and paste it in to word. This in effect removed all of the hard returns in my document and as such word could not detect the paragraph breaks. Must be getting senile or something. Never the less thank you to all for your replies. I was doing it correctly after all and all of your instructions were also correct. David, Like I said in my earlier e-mail message, sometimes the sort option in Word acts odd. I sometimes wonder if I haven't selected a character outside of what I want to sort, and the sort option doesn't like it. I really don't know. Some days my sorts work great, and well other days, I'm about ready to toss the computer out the window. What I did was save it as text and then went to the command prompt and used the old fashion DOS sort command which I am happy to report still works in XP pro. Still I am going to try and figure out just why it doesn't seem to want to work in word. This is confusion because I was able to do it before the reformat last month which I don't believe should have caused things to stop working correctly. Do not include additional text before or after the lines of text with the names on it. Open the Tables menu from the menu bar. Navigate down to Sort and press enter. You are now is a dialog box where you can select the options for your sort. Let me know if you need help figuring out these options. If your info is in a table, then select the info in the column on which you want to sort, and use the sort option in the table menu as above. Sometimes Word acts funky when you try to sort the column. So make sure you have a header row at the top of the table, place your cursor in the header cell for the column you want to sort on, and again use the sort option as above. For some reason these last 2 options do not always work consistently, and I've never been able to figure out why that is. Now I'd like to sort it alphabetically because the server doesn't do that itself. So the question is how do I accomplish this minor feet of magic?
