Hi Trish;

I tried the same thing you have suggested on a different computer but,
because I haven't gotten all the settings in this other computer the way I
would like, I also had a problem getting the download to work. On the other
hand this other computer may be up to date and I tried updating without
making sure. Thank you very much for letting me know that is probably an
issue with PICNIC, " person in chair, not in computer!" LOL Thanks again,
take care.
Mike

I did have success updating it through the web site. I clicked on the
accessibility link, and just arrowed down through all that stuff, made sure
to uncheck to install the google tool bar first before clicking on the
install button.
There was an I agree thingy, which I checked and continued with the install. A screen popped up stating something to the affect that if your seeing this
message from your browser, then you need to click here to start the
download/install.
Also, I found the update to the latest flash player which I also updated
through this same page.
It did say to make sure all other programs were closed before installing. I
use Jaws 11.065 on xp pro with IE 8.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Adobe Update

Hi All;

I just tried updating Adobe when I received their update window. I tried
using the steps outlined by a fellow list member. The steps are below.
By guesswork I am able to install flash myself.
The one that just says "button" is the important one. Press this, then
press the "i" button. When done press the "i" button again.
The above steps didn't work. Then I tried the suggestion below.

You can bypass this problem by going to the Adobe website, and installing
the latest version from the website after entering on the accessibility
link

Well, when I clicked on the accessability link, trying this with both
Jaws10
& Jaws11 latest, they both locked up tighter than a frogs but at high
tide.
I couldn't Alt + F4 out or anything else I tried didn't work. The only
way
that I could get Jaws working again was doing a hard reboot with both Jaws
versions. Has anyone else had any success withthe the above suggestions
in
updating Adobe? If so, how did you achieve it? I am running Jaws10 & 11
latest with XP Home. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
Take care.
Mike
