Looks like it really depends on JVM performance.
On my Compaq JDK1.3 for Tru64 (even w/o HotSpot)
first invocation of a pretty complicated JSP (with
includes, beans and etc.) takes about 3-5 secs only.
I haven't tried NT or Linux, sorry.
