I don't get this... I'm using Tomcat 3.1 (supposedly much slower than 3.2bX) and I 
don't see anywhere near these compilation times... and on a much lower spec than that 
Athlon quoted (FreeBSD 3.5/Pentium III 500Mhz/256MB ram). As a rough guess the average 
compilation of some of the bigger JSP's would never exceed 3 seconds.

I'm only writing this because I'm about to upgrade to 3.2 but I'll give it a wide 
girth if its this slow (though I've heard they've made a lot of speed improvements in 
3.2, optimising and reusing streams etc.)

It may also be a good idea to add a parameter/setting so that jikes can be used in the 
compilation of the pages (way faster). And where's the patch I hear them cry ;) sorry 
too busy.
