I do not believe this is so.  The AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) was filed 1 year
after the GAIM project started.  Copyright protection doesn't hold true from the
date inception but holds from a certain date after JDEdwards established
themselves.  I assume that they have been around for a LONG time.

The only thing I think we can do at this point is to make a big stink.  We
should post the letter online and send of e-mails to slashdot, linuxtoday, EFF,
politechbot, etc.

I think this is interesting.  The JDE in Emacs and JDEdwards are SOOO different
it is insane.
