Please, don't turn the Jive remote into another remote control where
where you have to remember all sorts of cryptical key combinations to
access specific functions.

What we need is some sort of context menu which could be launched and
visually give the user the option to select what he wants to do. This
way you only have to remember the key combination that launches the
context menu. As Ben mentioned this is described here:

I guess I'm probably missing something obvious but I can't really see
why this would be a huge implementation effort. We just need a way for
providers to register a text together with a CLI command for a specific
type of object. On the Jive side we just need to be able to retrieve the
list of registered commands for the selected type of object and display
them in a menu so the user can select one of the commands.
